श्रेयान्स्वधर्मो विगुणः परधर्मात्स्वनुष्ठितात् | स्वधर्मे निधनं श्रेयः परधर्मो भयावहः
Better is one's own duty, though devoid of merit than the duty of another well discharged. Better is death in one's own duty; the duty of another is fraught with fear (is productive of danger).
सम्यक् प्रकार से अनुष्ठित परधर्म की अपेक्षा गुणरहित स्वधर्म का पालन श्रेयष्कर है; स्वधर्म में मरण कल्याणकारक है (किन्तु) परधर्म भय को देने वाला है
राम्ररी निर्वाह गरिएको अर्काको धर्मभन्दा गुणहीन देखिने आफ्नै धर्म श्रेष्ठ हुन्छ। स्वधर्ममा मृत्यु पनि कल्याणकारी हुन्छ, तर अर्काको धर्म भय ल्याउने हुन्छ
Your own imperfect duty is better than another's duty perfectly done. Death in your own dharma is better; another's path brings fear. Authenticity matters more than imitation.
दूसरे के पूर्ण कर्तव्य से अपना अपूर्ण कर्तव्य बेहतर है। अपने धर्म में मरना श्रेयस्कर है; दूसरे का मार्ग भय देता है। नकल से प्रामाणिकता महत्वपूर्ण है
अर्काको धर्म राम्ररी पालना गर्नुभन्दा आफ्नै अपूर्ण धर्म पालना गर्नु बढी उत्तम हो। आफ्नै धर्ममा मृत्यु हुनु कल्याणकारी हो, तर अर्काको मार्गले भय निम्त्याउँछ। नक्कल गर्नुभन्दा प्रामाणिकता नै बढी महत्त्वपूर्ण हुन्छ
