Bhagavad Gita 9.20

Chapter 9 · The Royal Knowledge

The knowers of the three Vedas, the drinkers of Soma, purified of all sins, worshipping Me by sacrifices, pray for the way to heaven; they reach the holy world of the Lord of the gods and enjoy in heaven the divine pleasures of the gods.

Context

Those who know the three Vedas, drink soma, and become purified worship Krishna through sacrifice, seeking heaven. Reaching the holy world of Indra, they enjoy divine pleasures. Ritual worship yields real results—but those results are temporary, not ultimate liberation.
