Bhagavad Gita 2.45

Chapter 2 · The Yoga of Knowledge

The Vedas deal with the three attributes (of Nature); be thou above these three attributes. O Arjuna, free yourself from the pairs of opposites, and ever remain in the quality of Sattva (goodness), freed from (the thought of) acquisition and preservation, and be established in the Self.

Context

The Vedas deal with the three gunas of nature—go beyond them. Be free from opposites, established in purity, unconcerned with acquiring and protecting, and rooted in the self. Krishna points to a state beyond ordinary religious practice: not managing the material world better, but transcending its very dynamics.
