Bhagavad Gita 2.25

Chapter 2 · The Yoga of Knowledge

This (Self) is said to be unmanifested, unthinkable and unchangeable. Therefore, knowing This to be such, thou shouldst not grieve.

Context

The self is unmanifest, unthinkable, and unchangeable—therefore you should not grieve. Krishna acknowledges that the self can't be fully grasped by the mind or senses. It's beyond thought. Knowing this, grief becomes unnecessary because what you're grieving for was never truly at risk.
