Chapter 1 · Arjuna's Despair

By killing these sons of Dhritarashtra, what pleasure can be ours, O Janardana? Only sin will accrue to us from killing these felons.

Context

What joy can come from killing Dhritarashtra's sons? Only sin will follow. Arjuna recognizes that even killing 'felons' who deserve punishment won't bring happiness—it will only bring guilt. Revenge and punishment rarely deliver the satisfaction we imagine they will.
