The Blessed Lord said — When a man completely casts off, O Arjuna, all the desires of the mind and is satisfied in the Self by the Self, then is he said to be one of steady wisdom.
When a person completely abandons all desires of the mind and is satisfied in the Self by the Self alone—that's steady wisdom. The key is self-sufficiency of joy. When your contentment doesn't depend on external circumstances, you've touched something unshakeable within.
